REBECCA LAYTON

Austin-based artist Rebecca Layton uses traditional Indian textile patterns and decorative motifs as a lexicon with which to describe India’s changing physical landscape. Combining abstraction, pattern and architecture, Layton investigates ideas of origin, location, growth and mutation. Through drawing, painting and printmaking Layton deals with images of infrastructure, construction and urban grids, creating a hybridized framework for surveying the physical evidence of a rapidly evolving India.
